5 Great Festivals in Europe

Europe is a great place to visit if you are looking to check out a few music festivals. The atmosphere at those events is always excellent, in addition to the quality of bands that perform. Here is a look at five of the best music European festivals 2014 to look forward to.

Hurricane Festival - Germany - 21st June

The Hurricane Festival is a three day summer extravaganza that takes place in Bremen, Germany. It is at the top of the list for European festivals 2014. Many call it the European version of Coachella. There are similar attendance numbers, with 75,000 people attending during each of the three days, and a lineup of bands that would put any other venue to shame.

Names such as the Arctic Monkeys, Rammstein, The Smashing Pumpkins, Bloc Party, Jimmy Eat World, Kasabian, Tegan and Sara and The National will be performing.

Download Festival - UK - 14th June

Set in Donington Park in the United Kingdom, this Download Festival is right up there with Hurricane as a "must see" in Europe. The area has a capacity of 110,000, with four to five times that number walking in and out of the gates during the three day event. This festival has been an annual tradition since 2003 and it seems to get better very year.

Last year, bands such as Iron Maiden, Rammstein, Korn, Slipknot, 30 Seconds to Mars, Limp Bizkit, Papa Roach, 3 Doors Down, Alice in Chains, Motorhead, Mastodon, and Converge all performed. It is not yet clear what the 2014 lineup will be, but it is expected to be just as stellar. Last year, the event was ranked 6th for the best lineup of world music festivals.

Rock Werchter - Belgium - 4th July

Instead of celebrating the United States' independence, tourists from all over the world have the chance to come to this great venue in Leuven in order to enjoy the best that Rock music has to offer. Last year, the likes of Green Day, Kings of Leon, Sigur Ros, Depeche Mode and The National all performed.

Glastonbury Festival - UK - 26th June

Glastonbury has not lost any of its charm over the years, and it is the longest running music festival in Europe. Last year saw bands such as the Arctic Monkeys, The Rolling Stones and Mumford & Sons take part. In terms of prestige and hype, this is the best among all European festivals 2014.

For those who enjoy getting a firsthand glimpse of celebrities, famous singers, and other notable names, this is the perfect spot to visit. The atmosphere is electric, the environment is relaxed, and the booze flows freely.

Sziget Festival - Hungary - 5th August

This festival in Budapest is a bit of a hidden gem. It never gets the kind of fame and recognition reserved for Glastonbury, but it still attracts the likes of Franz Ferdinand, Regina Spektor, Blur, Bad Religion, Mika, The Cribbs and The Fratellis to perform.
