Everyone has their version of the story about the coronavirus. It’s so easy to slip into misinformation, overreactions, and sensible precautions as your travel date is just a couple of weeks or days away.
With cases reported in different countries, measures have been taken (some of them as a response to fear). The travel industry has been shaken from the roots, but that doesn’t mean it should shake your plans.
Take preventive measures, pack your luggage, and head to your destination. After all, the cheap travel season is at its peak, so make sure not to miss it!
Youngsters and middle-aged people remain at low risk of getting infected with the coronavirus. However, the elderly and the ones with poor immunity or chronic diseases are at great risk. Make sure to avoid travelling to areas with a lack of hot running water, visiting immuno-compromised relatives, and travelling to areas at-risk (South Korea, China, Iran, and Italy).
There is a chance of some cruises or flights being cancelled. You may be asked questions whether you have visited some of the countries affected by COVID-19. Countries are changing their rules quickly, but one thing is sure – travel agencies will find a way for travellers who are cooperative to reach their desired destination.
If you are booking your trip now, just make sure your travel agency is reimbursing cancellations due to COVID-19.
Wash your hands for 20 to 30 seconds each time and use regular soap. Also, dry your hands well before leaving the restroom.
Don’t touch your face, especially nose, eyes, and mouth, as mucous membranes are the most favourable places for germs to spread through the body.
Don’t cover your mouth and nose with your hands when coughing or sneezing. Instead, use the inside of your elbow.
Don’t reuse masks. These are meant for single-use only.
